Juli Endee

Crowned Queen of Liberian traditional music by the chiefs and elders

Landmark is level 2 of 4 in the Liberia Hall of Fame: a first that opened a door, or the pre-eminent figure of their generation in this country. See how the levels work.

Why they are here

Liberia's foremost traditional performer, crowned by the national traditional council, and a cultural ambassador who used song through the war years and the Ebola epidemic to reach people nothing else could.

Juli Endee is a Liberian cultural performer, dramatist and activist, crowned Queen of Liberian traditional music by the chiefs and elders of the traditional council.

She leads the Crusaders for Peace cultural troupe and has served as Liberia's cultural ambassador, using traditional song, drama and dance in campaigns on disarmament, peacebuilding, girls' education and public health — including the Ebola response, where performance reached communities that formal messaging did not.
